Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and you may be searching for that ideal gift for that special someone in your life.  Well, if that special someone is among the community of Swarovski fanatics, a Swarovski heart may be a gift to consider purchasing.

If your special someone is a seasoned Swarovski collector, you’ll want to check out the newest Swarovski heart releases to ensure that the heart gift is not already in his/her crystal collection.  Swarovski has created 4 new hearts for 2012:

Swarovski Love Hearts - 2012 Crystal Introductions

Swarovski Crystal Love Hearts

  1. Swarovski  Love Heart, Kakadu Red, large – 1096730.  This crystal heart is about 2.5” high and retails for $165 in the online shoppe.  Despite the colorful description, the heart in the picture on the Swarovski site appears to be pink on the left side, and mauve on the right side.
  2. Swarovski Love Heart, Light Siam, medium – 1096728.  This Swarovski heart is about 1.75” high and has a price tag of $95 on the online shoppe.  According to the image on the crystal brand’s site, the left side appears pink and the right side appears red.
  3. Swarovski Love Heart, Light Siam, small – 1096727.  It measures 1″ high (but is indicated on the Swarovski shoppe with a height of 2”) and it costs only $48.  This Swarovski heart is all red, but divided in half, which slightly different shades on the left and right sides.
  4. Swarovski Love Heart, Crystal Silver Shade, medium – 1096729.  This Swarovski crystal heart is not pink or red;  instead the left side is clear and the right side more of a light grey (Swarovski calls it silver shade).  Then there are about 10 hearts laser engraved on the crystal heart figurine.  This special heart retails for $95 in the Swarovski shoppe.

If your special someone is a new Swarovski crystal collector, you may want to consider the retired Swarovski heart figurines that were available exclusively to Swarovski SCS members in the 1990’s.  These Swarovski hearts are a single crystal stone and have a constant color throughout.

Swarovski Red, Blue, and Clear Crystal Hearts

Swarovski SCS Hearts

  1. Swarovski SCS Heart, Clear – 199 130.  This Swarovski SCS Heart is clear in color and is just over 1.5” in height.  It was not available for purchase, but was a gift to SCS members in 1996.  The clear heart may be found with or without the Swarovski Swan logo.  It can generally be purchased for $45 – $75 on the Crystal Exchange America website.
  2. Swarovski SCS Heart, Blue – 210 899.  This Swarovski SCS Heart is blue in color and is just over 1.5” in height.   It was not available for purchase, but was a gift to SCS members in 1997.  The blue heart features the Swarovski Swan logo.  It can generally be purchased for $55 – $75 on the Crystal Exchange America website.
  3. Swarovski SCS Heart, Red – 215 371.  This Swarovski SCS Heart is red in color and is just over 1.5” in height.   It was not available for purchase, but was a gift to SCS members in 1998.  The red heart features the Swarovski Swan logo.  It can generally be purchased for $40 – $60 on the Crystal Exchange America website.

No matter which Swarovski heart catches your eye, or more importantly, you think will catch the eye of your loved one(s), be sure to get your order in soon to allow for a successful delivery!

Several weeks ago, our family went to see the action movie ‘Tower Heist’.   The movie stars Benn Stiller, Eddie Murphy, and Casey Affleck.  It is an action comedy about some hard-working guys who lose their retirement funds to a billionaire swindler and how the men plot to reclaim what is rightfully theirs.

Early in the movie, when the plans are being set, the men are challenged to steal some merchandise from mall stores.  One of the men enters a Swarovski boutique for the challenge.

Below are some pictures from the filming of the movie ‘Tower Heist’ from this exact scene.  Here, Casey Afflec is checking out the Swarovski crystal Bella Earrings.

The Swarovski boutique is located in the Queens Center Mall in New York.

I thought Tower Heist worth seeing.  In our area, the movie is still showing in our theatres, so this movie may be a nice holiday treat following Christmas!

Last week, I found that Swarovski crystal brand uploaded a new video to YouTube featuring the Swarovski  Christmas Tree in France, decorated with thousands of Swarovski ornaments.

Here’s the video description provided by Swarovski:

New York, Sydney, Dubai, Zurich, Hong Kong and now, Megève. The sparkling tradition of the Swarovski Christmas tree adds even more delight to the French ski resort — decorated with 3,000 faceted crystal ornaments and lit by French actress Alice Taglioni, the 2011 Megève Christmas Tree is a sight to behold. The perfect tribute to all the special moments of the holiday season.

On the Swarovski site, there is a list of all the Swarovski Christmas tree displays they are sponsoring and decorating.

Here’s to all the Swarovski crystal fanatics of the world having a very Merry Christmas!

On November 17, 2011 Swarovski will light up the Swarovski Crystal Wish Tree at the Toronto Eaton Center  (Toronto, Canada).   Swarovski has collaborated with the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada since 2005 supporting the organization and contributing generously to help the foundation grant wishes to children and their families across Canada.

Swarovski 2011 Childrens Wish Ornament

This year’s limited edition Swarovski ornament resembles the Swarovski Festive Tree Ornament .  For clarity sake, I’m going to describe the Festive Tree Ornament first.  The Swarovski Festive Tree Ornament is green (peridot moonlight), decorated with red and yellow ornaments.  It is about 1.75” tall and retails for $40 in the online shoppe.  The Swarovski  2011 Make a Wish Ornament is tree-shaped, but is clear in color with no colored ornaments.  It has a special inscription with the year 2011 underneath.  While I have not heard the 2011 maximum quantity of production, in years past, 1100 to 1200 of the Swarovski Wish Ornaments have been produced.

The Kristall Buzz has pictures of some of the past limited edition Wish Ornaments in the article entitled Swarovski Crystal Wish Tree Ornament available in Canada.  There were 1200 limited edition ornaments produced in 2010, which resembled Samantha the Snowflake.  There were 1100 limited edition ornaments produced in 2009, which resembled the Swarovski Little Snowflake Ornament (retired in 2008).  There were 1200 limited edition ornaments produced in 2007, which resembled the Swarovski Twinkling Stars Ornament (retired in 2007).

Honored wishes and additional information can be found at the organization’s web site: Children’s Wish Foundation.

I’ll post more details about the Toronto Eaton Center Tree lighting and Children’s Wish Ornament following the event in a couple of days.  I’m looking forward to seeing the Swarovski Limited Edition Ornament soon!

Our favorite brand Swarovski is seems committed to getting our attention on our iPhones (including iPod and iPad) and Android Phones.  This is the 2nd App in 2 months that Swarovski has launched to keep us playing their crystal games.

Swarovski Christmas App

Swarovski Christmas App

Swarovski iPhone App

Swarovski iPhone App - Drag the Gifts to the Recipient

The newest app is the Swarovski Christmas Around the World App.  Since it was free in the App store, I decided to ask my daughter to take it for a test-drive.  She says the instructions were simple, and the concept is easy to catch on to.  Of course, the longer you play, and the higher the score, the more difficult the tasks.

The Swarovski Christmas App  for smartphones has a total of 6 color-coded characters, but at the easy levels begins with 2 people to receive gifts.  The idea is to give the Swarovski crystal gift to the correct recipient (because recipients and bubbles are color-coded) before the gifts disappear.  But there are NON-Swarovski gifts that should NOT be given to the characters, so you have to pay close attention to the gift in the bubbles. As various levels are completed the number of recipients increases and the speeds that the bubbles appear / disappear change, making the levels more difficult.  Adding even more complexity, later in the game, some of the bubbles are gray, meaning you have to figure out the correct recipient for the gift during the play.

Swarovski App : Berlin and London

Swarovski App : Berlin and London

The Swarovski Christmas App features Christmas trees in a number of cities:  Innsbruck, London, Berlin, Zurich, and Madrid.  It appears that points must be used to purchase flights to other cities, but my daughter did not expand on how that worked.  She stated that high scores can be included for world-wide display, and that this does enter you into drawings for Swarovski prizes.  Whew hew!  More Swarovski crystal!

In the game, it is possible to view more information about the Swarovski crystal gifts in the bubbles, and add them to a personal wish list, which can then be emailed to your friends and family.  We tried this…but the links to the Swarovski crystal  wishlist products in the recipient’s email did not seem to work on our attempts, so  I’m not sure that this feature would be all that useful.

Summary, the game is fun!  Great job to Swarovski and the app developers!  Also, check out the Swarovski Refract App that launched near October 9, 2011.  Can’t wait to see future FREE Swarovski Apps!

I have recently learned about an exclusive Swarovski Polar Bear Key Ring produced by our favorite crystal brand.

Swarovski Polar Bear Key Ring

Swarovski Polar Bear Key Ring

This key ring is like other key rings in that it is 20mm in diameter, features the usual silver chain and closing clasp for your keys.  Its packaging is a black velvet-like bag.

However, this polar bear key ring was produced to coincide with the production of the Swarovski SCS Siku Polar Bear, the 2011 SCS Swarovski AE.

I do not think that we’ll be seeing many of them.  Our reliable sources indicate that the Swarovski Polar Bear key ring was available only in Hong Kong.  It was a “Gift with Purchase” at a Private Shopping Night.  The Swarovski assigned identification number is 1145200.

Just as a reminder, the Swarovski Polar Bear Siku is only available to Swarovski SCS members through the end of 2011.  And the availability is the same for the Swarovski SCS Polar Bear Cubs, Crystal Moonlight and Swarovski SCS Polar Bear Cubs, White Opal – done at the end of 2011.

If you are planning to collect your Swarovski SCS Loyalty Gift, in 2013 be sure and make your purchase online at the Swarovski shoppe or from an authorized Swarovski agent and confirm that they have used YOUR SCS # for the Swarovski Annual Edition redemption.

November 5 marked the debut of Harrod’s Swarovski Crystal Christmas!  Can you believe it….50 days til Christmas?

Inspired by Swarovski, the large department store has a seven-window display featuring a glitzy woodland landscape with dazzling trees drenched with Swarovski gems.

Harrods Swarovski Wedding Gown

Harrods Swarovski Wedding Gown

When Harrods and Swarovski joined forces, nothing but the finest should be expected.  The fascinating forest scene features mannequins hanging from trees along with wintry branches and garland.

‘We are really excited to be part of ‘A Crystal Christmas’, Tamara Ralph said. ‘When I was asked to create my ultimate Swarovski gown, I was instantly inspired by the 1920’s era. I wanted to create a show-stopping and intricate piece that oozed glamour.’  The wedding dress contains approximately 152,000 Swarovski crystal stones.   The gown workforce consisted of more than 25 couturiers working hundreds of hours to completion.

Swarovski will have a pop-up store in four of the seven windows, selling jewelry, including that from the Atelier Swarovski collection.

Check out the display windows….

Harrods Swarovski Window Display

Swarovski Harrods Christmas Window Scene

Swarovski Harrods Christmas Window Scene

I personally thought that the display seemed a bit dark, missing the true meaning of Christmas.  After writing this article, I revisited the web site where I found the news and found LOTS of comments from readers who seemed quite turned off by the display.   Some adjectives and phrases posted by readers include “scary”, “bizarre”, “depressing”,  “inducing nightmares”,  and “creepy”.

Sometimes pictures don’t do justice to the actual live display….I’d be interested to see it personally, but really cannot seeing as it is on a different continent than I live.

In any case, I hope that it is the success that Swarovski and Harrods are hoping for.

Today, we received the official Swarovski news that the Swarovski Orange Shine Panther is now SOLD OUT!  The Orange Shine Panther publicly launched August 29, 2011.  This Swarovski Panther was a limited edition figurine (Swarovski NLE) of 888 units.  The orange wild cat, in a typical cat pose, retailed for $1110.

Swarovski Soulmates Orange Shine Panther

Swarovski Orange Shine Limited Edition Panther

Despite it being ‘another limited edition’ panther, I expected a quick sell out, like the Swarovski  Black Panther.  The Swarovski Limited Edition Black Panther (Swarovski NLE) was limited to 500 units and retailed for $960 when it was briefly available at the online Swarovski shoppe in April, 2010.

The Orange Shine Panther and Black Panther are among Swarovski crystal feline friends….Swarovski also produced a clear Panther figurine, that retired in 2011 and a moroda Panther figurine which is presently available in the Swarovski shoppe.  The Kristall Buzz has featured a number of articles about Swarovski Panthers:

I’m wondering what the crystal brand is thinking….

  • Is another colored, limited edition Swarovski panther figurine in the works?
  • Does the extended time available indicate that Swarovski collectors did not like the orange-shine color?
  • Does the extended time available imply that Swarovski collectors might not be interested to purchase another limited edition panther in a different color?

Now, if feline fanatics want to purchase the Swarovski Orange Panther, they will have to turn to the secondary market or online auctions.  At Crystal Exchange America, the Black Panther and Orange Shine Panther, as well as other Swarovski NLE figurines, can be found in the ‘Limited Edition Swarovski’ category of the store.  Or collectors can use the powerful store search feature, keyword ‘panther’ to restrict the search results to Swarovski panthers.

October 27 marks a special online event at the Swarovski website!  The Swarovski Arctic Hare is available to purchase directly from the crystal brand’s online shoppe for a limited 24-hour window (or while stocks last).

The Swarovski Arctic Hare is a ‘crystal moonlight’ rabbit figurine.  It is a Swarovski crystal figurine normally available for purchase at Swarovski events by SCS members who attend a store reception.  The crystal bunny is about 1.5” x 2” in size and retails for $110.  This Swarovski crystal figurine was designed by Anton Hirzinger.

The Arctic Hare is also symbolic in that it marks the Year of the Rabbit: 2011 in the Chinese calendar.

In 2011, the crystal brand released two other Swarovski Hare figurines:

If you are a hare fanatic, you may be interested to purchase all 3 of the crystal hare figurines.  Remember, the Swarovski Arctic Hare can only be purchased by SCS members for the online event.  But once they hit the online auctions or secondary market, anyone can purchase them.  To find other similar figurines on the secondary market, you can visit the web site of Crystal Exchange America (www.CrystalExchange.com).  Use the powerful store search feature with the term ‘bunny’, ‘rabbit’, or ‘hare’ to find exactly what you are looking for!

Halloween is just around the corner.  Parties on the weekends with people decked out in their best costumes.  And yet one more chance to enjoy the fun or scary atmosphere on beggars night too!

Nearly every year, we get orders for a Swarovski Mask that some Swarovski fanatic is planning to wear to a party!

Our favorite crystal brand produced four different masks all release in their Jeweler’s Collection line.  All the masks can indeed be worn, but some are on the more fragile side and I would suggest using caution if wearing these Swarovski Limited Edition releases.

Swarovski Limited Edition Mask for 1999

Swarovski 1999 Mask

The first mask came out in 1999.  It was a limited edition of 2000 units.  While the mask itself was not numbered, the certificate included with it was numbered.  The Swarovski identification # for the 1999 Swarovski mask is 3391.69SN.  The crystal stones for this mask were hand set and are bonded into the mask frame.  The satin-like Swarovski box is burgundy in color.  The Swarovski 1999 Mask retailed for $350 and sells in the $450 – $500 price range on the secondary market.

Swarovski Limited Edition Mask for 2000

Swarovski 2000 Mask

The second mask came out in 2000.  It was a limited edition of 3000 units.  While the mask itself was not numbered, the certificate included with it was numbered.  This mask has a detachable handle so that the mask is hand-held, not actually worn.  The Swarovski identification # for the 2000 Swarovski mask is 1508853 / 1508982.  The satin-like Swarovski box is grey in color.  The Swarovski 2000 Mask retailed for $375 and sells in the $450 – $500 price range on the secondary market.

Swarovski Limited Edition Mask for 2001

Swarovski 2001 Mask

The third mask came out in 2001.  It was a limited edition of 3000 units.  While the mask itself was not numbered, the certificate included with it was numbered.  The Swarovski identification # for the 2001 Swarovski mask is 1806193.   Clear crystal stones and yellow crystal stones were used for this mask. The satin-like Swarovski box is iridescent lavender in color.  The Swarovski 2001 Mask retailed for $395 and sells in the $475 – $525 price range on the secondary market.

Swarovski Limited Edition Mask for 2002

Swarovski 2002 Mask

The final mask came out in 2002.  It was a limited edition of 2500 units.  While the butterfly mask itself was not numbered, the certificate included with it was numbered.  The Swarovski identification # for the 2000 Swarovski Butterfly mask is 1600317.  The satin-like Swarovski box is blue in color.  The Swarovski 2002 Mask retailed for $375 and sells in the $500 – $550 price range on the secondary market.

Whether you attend a party as your favorite celebrity, or a professional athlete, or any other costume, you can always bling it up with some Swarovski Elements or conceal your identity with a Swarovski mask.  Even if you just want to walk around with your kids on Beggar’s night, with a little spunk, you can wear a Swarovski Crystal Mask.   Most importantly, have a safe and fun Halloween event.

This article about the VW Beetle and Swarovski is yet another story of how Swarovski has been used in the non-figurine / non-fashion industry, but will certainly appeal to the Beetlemania generation.

Just a tad bit of history on Volkswagon, they began producing cars in Germany in 1930’s, but the bigger boom came in 1945.  The popular economy car became better known as the “Beetle” and “Bug”.  In August, 1955, the 1,000,000th Beetle came rolling off the production line.

In 2000, Volkswagon had the 1,000,000 unit completely renovated for display in the Volkswagon theme park.  The park, Autostadt, is in Wolfsburg Germany.

Swarovski Volkswagon Beetle

VW Beetle featuring Swarovski Crystal Stones

The makeover features include gold paint, new brocade upholstery, and the very sparkly chrome bumpers and trim accents.  Over 30,000 stones were hand-applied by Swarovski craftsman in Wattens.  At that time, they probably thought it was a pretty-blinged up car.

Compare it to the Swarovski Royal Wedding Mini Cooper with over 300,000 hand-set Swarovski Crystal stones!

Several days ago, I wrote about the newest Swarovski crystal video on YouTube, which featured Swarovski Theo.  The video featured the 2009 Limited Edition Theo and his travels in Southeast Aisa.

At the time, I believed the Swarovski Globetrotter contest being advertised was to photograph Theo traveling around the world.  Yesterday, I found a facebook page with more information about the Swarovski Globetrotter contest:

According to the contest rules, the Swarovski Crystal Globetrotter can be any crystal figurine.  I checked out the list of photographs already submitted, and it looks like many crystal fanatics are selecting Swarovski Lovlots or Swarovski Happy Duck figurines for their traveling companions.

Contestants can submit images of up to 3 Sparkling Globetrotters.  Competition entries must be submitted before November 15, 2011.

Good luck to all Swarovski fanatics entering the Crystal Globetrotter contest!

Swarovski Chocolate?  Well, not exactly.  It is luxury chocolate with Swarovski crystal embellishments on the box.  Chocaholics and crystal fanatics alike are going to have to pay out a small fortune to purchase this unique gift.

Swarovski Crystal Embellished Chocolate Truffles Box

Swarovski Crystal Embellished Chocolate Truffles Box

The history of this gift?  “The Chocolate” company spent two years perfecting this wonderful blend of chocolate, of 63% black chocolate.  Champagne is also used in the recipe, which is kept top-secret.  The mixture is used to produce the “champagne truffles”.

Topping the luxury chocolate truffles is edible 24-carat gold flakes.  (With the cost of gold these days, I’m not so sure I’d eat the flakes as I cannot imagine they have value-added flavor, despite the claim that is does).

Keeping the extravagance theme in mind, the box is just as lavish.  There are two different boxes available to package your chocolate in.  The “Boutique Box” (full size box) is decorated with 450 Swarovski crystals on the inside and outside.  Box + chocolate = nearly $300.  Each of the Boutique Boxes is said to be numbered and include a certificate according to one source.  “The Chocolate” indicates that the Boutique Box is also a collector’s item.  I guess this is one Swarovski box that you would not want to discard!  The “Bambina Box” (for a single large truffle) is decorated with 200 Swarovski crystals on the inside and outside.   Box + chocolate = nearly $80.

Chocolate with 24k edible gold flakes and box decorated with Swarovski Crystals

Chocolate with 24k edible gold flakes and box decorated with Swarovski Crystals

The luxurious chocolate truffles can be purchased directly from “The Chocolate” web site.  “The Chocolate” indicates that  your truffles are made shortly after orders are placed and that a signature is required for deliver of these special Swarovski-boxed truffles.

Very interesting, however, I think I’ll stick to the Hershey kisses for my chocolate fixes and save my money for genuine Swarovski crystal figurines!
